Spot rubber rules weak

Spot rubber weakened on Thursday. Further falls in the international and domestic futures continued to dampen the market mood and the prices surrendered mainly on selling from traders. Sheet rubber declined to Rs 131.50 from Rs 133.50 a kg while the market made all-round losses with comparatively dull volumes.

RSS 4 slipped at its February futures to Rs 131.90 (132.65), March to Rs 133.83 (134.99), April to Rs 137.90 (139.08) and May to Rs 140.60 (141.83) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE). RSS 3 moved down to Rs 139.59 (141.48) a kg on Singapore Commodity Exchange (SICOM). The grade closed weak at Rs 143.58 (144.48) a kg at Bangkok. The February futures for RSS 3 declined to ¥265 (¥267.8) (Rs 136.19), March to ¥263.9 (¥269.4), April to ¥267.4 (270.1), May to ¥270 (273.3), June to ¥272.3 (275.9) and July to ¥274.8 (278.2) a kg during the day session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange. The April futures bounced back to ¥274.9, May to ¥278.5, June to ¥281.1 and July to ¥283.6 a kg while the February and March futures remained inactive during the night session.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 131.50 (133.50); RSS-5: 128 (130); ungraded: 126 (126.50); ISNR 20: 129 (131) and latex 60 per cent: 90 (91).
